Trivandrum-Kasargode NH 66: Land entrusted to NHAI in Kollam

Crossing a major milestone, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has made a significant progress for the development of the Ochira-Thiruvananthapuram stretch under the national highway development programme. The NHAI has issued 3 (D) notification, which indicates that the land in Kollam stretch has been entrusted to NHAI. This is a significant step in the widening of the NH in the Kollam district.

After 3 (D), NHAI will initiate 3 (G) process, which involves distribution of compensation. This time, the compensation will also include 25 % of state’s share.

The land acquisition is in various stages in the NH 66 stretch from Kasargode to Thiruvananthapuram, widening of which has been stuck for several decades. Once the National Highway is widened from Kasargode to Thiruvananthapuram, it would resolve the traffic issues in the state to a great extend.

In Kasargode, the standing finance committee has given approval for Thalappady-Chengala and Chengala-Neeleswaram project. Land acquisition has completed in Malappuram too. In Thrissur district, land acquisition has made a progress of around 80 % while it is around 50 % in Alappuzha.

In Thiruvananthapuram, the NHAI has started 3( C) notification process of taking enquiry of the land it intends to acquire from Kadambattukonam to Kazhakoottam. Once it is completed, NHAI will announce acquisition of land by issuing 3 D notification for Kadambattukonam-Kazhakoottam stretch. This is expected by the first week of July.
